The Magic Numbers
Last Friday I was at the MAGnitude Music vs Mines fundraising gig in Kings Cross.
Headlining were folk rock four-piece The Magic Numbers, who had generously taken time out from the recording studio to lend their support. Danny and the Champions of the World also performed, somehow squeezing all nine band members onto the tiny Water Rats stage.
The event was organised by Abby Stables and Kellie Hutchens, in association with the Mines Advisory Group (MAG). There are estimated to be between four and six million landmines still remaining in Cambodia. From 2001 to the present day, nearly five-thousand men, women and children have been reported as maimed or killed by weapons left behind after decades of conflict. In March, the two girls will fly off to Cambodia and build homes for people affected by the remnants of war.
